The first Friday in September is National Chianti Day, a holiday honoring this iconic Italian wine and inviting us to explore the richness of its red wines. Although Rondo del Valle doesn't produce Chianti, we share a passion for elegant and complex red blends.

In this post, you'll learn about our red wines, their pairings, and the relationship between tradition and modernity in winemaking. What is Chianti? Chianti is a wine produced in the Tuscan region of Italy and characterized by its Sangiovese grape base. Its national day is celebrated on the first Friday of September. The event aims to spread the history and culture of wine and encourage wine lovers to sample different labels.

Our red wines:

  • Cautivo: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged for 14 months in barrels. It has a ruby red color with pink hues; aromas of plum jam, dried apricots, violets, tobacco leaves, and ash; its palate is elegant and fresh with round tannins and notes of red fruits, spices, and tobacco. Ideal for pairing with red meats and mature cheeses.
  • Morador: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Mourvedre aged for 14 months in barrels. Its color is bright carmine; the nose offers notes of red and black berries, cayenne pepper, roasted cocoa, and vanilla; its palate is silky with powerful tannins and spicy flavors. Perfect with spicy dishes and grilled cuts.
  • Travesi: A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec aged for nine months in barrels. It stands out for its intense purple hue; aromas of raspberry and strawberry with notes of violet and tobacco; its palate is smooth with velvety tannins and fresh acidity. It pairs well with pasta, artisanal pizzas, or stews.

Pairings and Experiences: Take advantage of this day to book our VIP Tasting, a private experience guided by a sommelier in the underground cellar, where you'll taste all five labels accompanied by a gourmet platter. Another option is to participate in our Pairing Workshop, where you'll learn how to combine different wines with regional ingredients.

Sustainability and tradition: Although Chianti is bottled in classic glass bottles, there is a global trend toward alternative packaging, such as boxed wine. September 9th is International Boxed Wine Day, which highlights the sustainability of this format.

At Rondo del Valle, we believe every container has its place; our bottles protect the quality of the wine and are recyclable, and we also participate in environmental projects.

Points Program: Don't forget that when you purchase our wines, you earn points that you can redeem for discounts. Members also receive benefits such as additional discounts and exclusive promotions. Celebrate Chianti Day by exploring our reds and learning the stories behind each label. Book a tasting or visit our online store to enjoy the flavor of the Guadalupe Valley. We'd love to read your reviews and hear from you on social media!
